來自北愛爾蘭的龐克搖滾隊伍The Undertones，在龐克精神中注入華麗搖滾、新浪潮甚至是摩城靈魂樂派養份，讓樂團一出道即獲廣大好評。1974-1983年間贏取事業高峰，面臨第一次解體後，1999年再度重組復出，2000年代送上兩張商業成績不理想，但是評價仍是高分的專輯。

The Undertones於1980年推出第二張大碟《Hypnotised》，締造事業上最亮眼商業成績，攀上英國金榜第6名，讓AllMusic、Blender、Q、Record Mirror、Select、Smash Hits、Spin、The Village Voice、滾石雜誌…等各傳媒近滿分背書，還入選「死前必聽1001張專輯」一書中。雖然這張專輯中的歌曲依舊關注於青少年的焦慮、旺盛精力和感情心碎，但在音樂和詞意上都明顯比首張專輯老練成熟，也是備受稱許的原因！
