假聲男高音不像一般歌唱家有一定相同的音域，他們彼此間的差異相當大。德國假聲男高音修爾很幸運地，擁有和韓德爾當年愛將森奈席諾完全一樣的音域，這讓他在近年韓德爾歌劇運動正熱的年代中炙手可熱。但他之所以躍升為當今古樂界的卡羅素，則絕非僅止於此。

修爾成名極早，1981年全球兩萬詩班聚集梵蒂崗教廷為教皇聖保碌二世獻唱，修爾就被選為獨唱。他當時十四歲，雖然已邁入青春期，卻依然可以用純淨的假聲唱出悅耳歌聲，顯示他擁有極高的假聲演唱技巧。而他的歌聲也很快就被假聲男高音Rene Jacobs相中，破格允許剛高中畢業的修爾進入巴賽爾古樂學院攻讀，在此他深受艾瑪柯克比的影響，也奠定了對英國巴洛克曲目的精熟。他擁有非常優美的男中音，在演唱會中經常可以一口氣由男中音往上唱到次女高音的上限，功力十分了得。出色的唱藝，讓他成為有史以來第一位獲得明星級地位的假聲男高音，成就遠遠超越許多前輩，也提高了假聲男高音的能見度。雖然年僅四十三歲（2010年），名聲卻與古樂蓬勃復興時期緊緊相繫，二十年來，幾乎所有重量級古樂錄音都以他掛帥，而其中的經典錄音，也都有其名相佐，他不但親眼見證了古樂復興以來的最繁盛階段，同時又是親自參與寫下這段歷史的重要角色。

2010年重回笛卡的首張重要作品，就是全本的普賽爾歌曲，雖然早在學生時代就經常演唱這些作品，這卻是他生平第一次灌錄普賽爾。專輯中他請到新生代法國假聲男高音克里斯多菲杜莫與他合作一首二重唱，另外他還唱了一首著名的the Cold Song，當年曾為大衛鮑伊伴唱的歌手Klaus Nomi很愛唱這首歌，修爾非常仰慕他，因此特別灌錄此曲獻給於1983年以三十九歲之齡過世的這位歌手。
